SINGULAR & PLURAL
When a noun ends in a vowel, the plural is formed by simply adding -s :
Nouns that end in a consonant (including y) form the plural by adding - es:
* Note that nouns stressed on the last syllable in the singular form lose their accent mark in the plural:
Nouns that end in -z in the singular for the plural by adding -ces:
* Nouns that have a written accent on the next to the last syllable in the singular retain the accent in the plural:
Nouns that end in a stressed -í or ú add -es to form the plural:
Masculine plural of nouns are referring to people they include both males and females.
When a noun has more than one syllable and ends in an unstressed vowel plus -s do not have a plural ending:
Some nouns are always in plural form:
When a proper noun refers to a family there is no plural form:
Los Blanco viven en Madrid. (The family lives in Madrid) * If there are two or more families involved (same last name), a plural is needed: Hay muchos Prados y Blancos en la guía telefónica. ¿SINGULAR or PLURAL ?
